Lounge:: TN farmers to block supplies to Kerala
The Latest News from TN

>>report begins>>
Gudalur(TN), Oct 30: The Tamil Nadu Farmers' Association (TNFA) has warned it will block all food supplies to Kerala "if steps were not taken to increase the water-level of Mullaperiyar dam to 142 feet from 136 feet as per Supreme Court orders".

A resolution passed at their meeting here yesterday said farmers will not allow any food articles, from vegetables to groceries, into neighbouring Kerala and would block them at border points.

The meeting was attended by 300-odd farmers from different parts of the state.

The resolution warned both Tamil Nadu and Kerala governments against any delay in increasing the dam level as per the orders issued by the Supreme Court on February 27, a TNFA release said today.

It termed Kerala's argument about security concerns in raising the water-level in the dam as "false propaganda".

The meeting said Tamil Nadu government should not make any "delay in arriving at a solution in the issue under the pretext of holding talks with Kerala" or politicise the issue.

A demonstration condemning the Kerala government's stand on the matter was held at the border village of Kumili.
<<report end<<

What do you think?..
